Civil War magic lantern slide, showing barges on the James River in Richmond, Virginia, carrying African Americans leaving Richmond at the close of the Civil War. Rare image by an unknown photographer also shows some ruined buildings in the background. Glass slide measures 4'' x 3.25'', in a wood case measuring 7'' x 4''. Photo unfortunately displays cracks to glass, fair condition.
