John F. Kennedy signed convocation program from the University of Illinois, dated 27 January 1957 when Kennedy gave the commencement address. Signed in blue pen on the front of the program, ''John Kennedy''. This event was one of the first in Kennedy's ''Early Campaign'' for President, which began in 1957. In 1956, after the publication of ''Profiles in Courage'', Kennedy was buoyed by almost winning his party's nomination for Vice President at the Democratic National Convention, and decided to test the waters for a Presidential run. Program measures 6'' x 9'' as folded. Toning, light creasing and wear, overall very good to near fine condition. With University Archives COA.
