Roger Maris signed lot, including a questionnaire from baseball historian Karl Wingler, who asks Maris a series of questions, answered by the baseball great and then signed by Maris at the conclusion. Lot includes: (1) Questionnaire filled out by Maris and signed in blue ballpoint, listing his nationality, wife's name and birth date, and other information including the date he changed his name from Maras to Maris: (''Immaterial'' he writes). It was rumored that Maris changed his name in part so that baseball fans could more easily pronounce it. Measures 8.5'' x 11''. Folds and staple puncture, else near fine. (2-3) Two unlined cards filled out by Maris in blue ballpoint, where he again answers ''Immaterial'' to the name question, writes his ancestry (''German & Austrian''), and names the scout who signed him professionally, Jack O'Connor. Other information is included such as sports played in high school, etc. Each card measures 4.25'' x 3''. Near fine. (4-6) Copy of the questionnaire and two cards with notes by Wingler. (7) Envelope from Maris postmarked 21 December 1957 from Fargo, N. Dakota. A nice lot of items from Maris' first year in the major leagues.
