Franklin D. Roosevelt typed letter signed with his full signature, composed on 8 September 1928 to his physical therapist Helena Mahoney. In this letter, FDR mentions the pearl necklace that he gave to Mahoney, done in gratitude for her helping the future President give the nominating speech for Al Smith at the Democratic National Convention earlier that year. FDR famously gave the speech standing up, without the use of his crutches, largely through Mahoney's guidance and physical therapy. Their relationship in 1928, and this speech, was even the subject of the 2005 film ''Warm Springs'' starring Kenneth Branagh and Kathy Bates.

Letter reads in full, ''Dear Hony: I have only a moment to thank you for the check and for your welcome letter of September 2nd. / I will bring down the pearls to Warm Springs and then if you want to make a will you can dictate it to me. / I am mighty glad that you are really feeling better and I am certain that from now on things are going to go finely. / Very sincerely yours, [signed] Franklin D. Roosevelt''. Single page on FDR's personalized stationery measures 7.25'' x 10.5''. Folds, else near fine condition.
