Beautifully penned card by William Lloyd Garrison, who dates his signature to 1876. Signed card is accompanied by an 1873 printed broadside of Garrison's poem, ''Human Equality'', a play on the folk song ''A Man's a Man for A' That'', here re-written by Garrison to promote gender equality. In addition to being an unwavering abolitionist, Garrison was a vocal proponent of women's suffrage and equality as early as the 1840s through his newspaper ''The Liberator''. Card measures 5'' x 2.75'', in near fine condition, and poem measures 5'' x 7.75'' with some creasing, in very good condition. Card originates from the estate of Garrison's son, William Lloyd Garrison, Jr., given to him by Frederick Douglass, ostensibly revealing that the card was presented at one point by the elder Garrison to Douglass.
