George S. Patton letter signed, dated 16 April 1945 during World War II, two days after Patton was promoted from Lieutenant General to General, and shortly after completing his successful attack into Germany. Composed on 3rd U.S. Army Headquarters, Office of the Commanding General letterhead, Patton thanks the Liberty Fig and Date Company of Chicago for ''your very magnificent box of figs and dates...They are being much enjoyed by myself and all the members of the Mess...[signed] GS Patton Jr.'' Visible portion of letter measures 6.5'' square, nicely framed against black fabric in a gold frame. Frame measures 18'' x 17.5''. Light creasing to letter, otherwise near fine. Small bit of scuffing to frame, overall very good to near fine.
