Eleanor Roosevelt typed letter signed, dated 27 June 1948 on her Val-Kill Cottage stationery. Roosevelt writes to a Mr. Scobey, promising to forward his letter to the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, though she has ''no control over the funds or the policies of the Foundation''. Signed ''Eleanor Roosevelt''. The NFIP was founded by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1938 to combat polio, and changed its name to the March of Dimes in 1976. Letter measures 6'' x 6.75''. Fold, else near fine. With original transmittal envelope bearing Roosevelt's free franked stamped signature.
