WWII envelope neatly addressed and signed by Ira Hayes, the rarest of the Iwo Jima flag raisers. Postmarked ''Navy'' on 27 July 1945, Hayes signs his name and rank: ''Cpl. Ira H. Hayes U.S.M.C. / 'E' 2nd Bn. 28th Marines / 5th Marine Divi., P.M.F. / c/o F.P.O., San Francisco, Calif.'' Envelope has two Iwo Jima stamps for postage. Measures 6.25'' x 3.5''. Light wear and torn right edge from opening, overall very good condition.
