Directors Guild of America medal awarded to Michael Onofrio for Outstanding Directorial Achievement for the 1978 production of the Kennedy Center Honors. The first year of the event, the Kennedy Center Honors were awarded that year to Marian Anderson, Fred Astaire, George Balanchine, Richard Rodgers, and Arthur Rubinstein. Large bronze medal features a relief portrait of an eagle clutching a strip of celluloid which reads, ''1978 ASSOC. DIR.'' Gusts of wind are depicted in the background and ''DIRECTORS GUILD AWARD'' appears beneath the eagle's beak. Written on the border are the words, ''FOR OUTSTANDING DIRECTORIAL ACHIEVEMENT / MICHAEL ONOFRIO / KENNEDY CENTER HONORS''. Measures 3.75'' in diameter, and weighs 1 lbs, 4 oz. Comes housed in original DGA box measuring 5.25'' square. In very good condition.
