Scarce cabinet card photo of Christian Brahmin, Narayan Sheshadri. Sheshadri inscribes, ''Narayan Sheshadri / Jalna and Indapur / Via Bombay'' on the mount beneath his image. Sheshadri was born a Brahmin, the highest Indian caste, but rejected an indulgent life to become a Christian missionary, preaching to the lower classes. He formed a Christian community and Church in Jalna, India. Rockwood Photography backstamped on verso of cabinet card which measures 4'' x 6.5''. Expected toning to image, very light soiling and tape residue on the verso. Overall very good plus condition.
