Benito Mussolini autograph letter signed, undated though circa 1926-27 after Mussolini assumed the title of ''Capo del Governo'' or Head of Government. At this time Mussolini was dismantling all checks on his power and recently survived the first assassination attempt on his life. Upon ''Capo del Governo'' stationery, Mussolini writes to his Finance Minister Giuseppe Volpi, ''Dear Volpi, There are very severe complaints circulating about the tobacco products - especially the cigarettes - that they are no longer smokeable, which is a reason for foreign tobacco to come into fashion. I am calling the rumors to your attention, because they are of interest and have to do with the Regia's [The Regia Manifattura dei Tabacchi] technical reputation. / Mussolini''. Single page letter on card-style stationery measures 5'' x 8''. Light toning and horizontal fold; overall very good plus condition. With full translation.
