Composer Bela Bartok signed photo. The great Hungarian pianist pens ''To Mr. Alexander Smallens / Bela Bartok / Philadelphia, 28 Dec. 1927'' upon this 7.5'' x 9.25'' photo. Bartok was in Philadelphia in 1927 on a tour of the United States with his celebrated piece ''Piano Concerto No. 1''. Minor rippling and surface scratches to lower edge, else near fine.
