U.S. Constitution, as printed by Humphrey Phelps in 1846 and known as the Phelps copy, one of the earliest printings of the Constitution. Broadside reads ''1846 / Constitution of the United States'' at top, with hand-colored artwork surrounding the document, which lists Articles I-VII of the Constitution. Cloth backed paper broadside is affixed to a scroll for display. Publisher's information at bottom reads, ''Published by H. PHELPS, No. 4 Spruce-street, (opposite the Park, NEW-YORK.'' Some dampstaining and portions of original shellac worn off. Chipping to sides. Overall in good condition with no loss of text.
