John Wayne signed biography, ''John Wayne / Shooting Star'' by Maurice Zolotow. London: W.H. Allen, 1974 first British edition. Wayne inscribes the flyleaf to photographer Gerry Murray, ''Gerald - Without my permission but good reading for gossips. / John Wayne / 1974''. In a letter accompanying the piece, Murray describes how he acquired the signature: Through a friend who was acting with Wayne in ''Brannigan'', Murray met Wayne on the set, and gave him this newly-released biography to read. Wayne read the book and returned it to Murray a week later with the comically dry inscription, referring to the book's contents. Measures 5.5'' x 8.75''. Separation starting to front hinge, otherwise near fine in dust jacket.
