Original ink sketch entitled ''The Little Mermaid'' by Frederick Stuart Church. Church sketches the image of a mermaid swimming and inscribes, ''The Little Mermaid / From original painting / F.S. Church.'' The signed drawing appears on the paper to which a grayscale print also by Church is mounted. Church is known for his romantic and playful depictions of a natural world in which mermaids, friendly witches and dancing animals exist. The image and its accompanying inscription measure approximately 7.5'' x 3''. Mounted print measures 15.5'' x 20'' overall. Staining to the far right edge of paper mount, chipping along edges and paper loss to left corners. Overall in very good condition.
