James Montgomery Flagg artwork, rendered in ink and watercolor, measuring 16'' x 19.5''. An evocative piece with a couple dressed in black appearing to console a seated woman, perhaps after losing her husband. Flagg signs at lower left, ''For Brownie / James Montgomery Flagg'', inscribed to well known illustrator Arthur William Brown. Composed on board, which has some loss at edges, not affecting images apart from a small section on the man's shoulder. Overall in good condition.
