Sal Mineo autograph letter signed as ''Sam Spade'', dated ''Feb 16, 195000000'' when Mineo was establishing his career. Written in green ink, letter reads: ''Hi Keed, I received your gossip letter and I was surprised and glad to hear from you. I'm sorry I didn't write but you know how busy I am. I don't know how you know but ??? eh? Anyway I've been going to St Catherin's Military school. and I'm the top brass. I guess you could picture me hollering out my lungs at the slops at the school. The guys that go to the school are real nice guys. Although I like girls better these guys are alright. Yesterday was our last day of shooting at the school but I'm still shooting at the studio...I wish you would send my love to the girls and 'hi' to the boys. You see I like girls too. Its good to hear Eddy has a girl and Bill likes em all. Anyway I have a few shows to do here Like Lorreta Young etc. The weather is beautiful it reaches 75-85 nearly everyday...By the way have you see 'six bridges'? [the film ''Six Bridges to Cross''] Tell Nappy and Bill and the other guys that the girls are plentiful and they all have cars. From 16-60 there all dolls + I love em all. Please tell Lenny I mean Leonard...of course Mr. Q that I miss him etc. etc. And the teacher well give them my money I mean my regards. Take it easy kid I miss you, Always your Pal Sam Spade''. Signs ''Sam Spade'', the fictitious ''Maltese Falcon'' detective in place of his name. With two small doodles below his name: what looks to be an eye, and a box with ''Private'' written inside. Card-style letter on 4pp., front and verso, measures 5.5'' x 7''. Tape along two folds to reinforce tears. Very good.
