Cooper was well-qualified to chronicle U.S. Navy heroes, having served himself. He highlights five distinguished officers from the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812: William Bainbridge, Richard Somers, Edward Preble, John Shaw and John Templer Shubrick. 4.75'' x 7.5'' book runs 252pp. Wear to leather boards, cover lettering rubbed, back cover almost separated, foxing and toning. Fair condition. A very rare volume.
