Artwork portrays a Parisian street scene containing the Madeline characters, as the setting of the book took place in a Catholic boarding school in Paris. Quirky characters, from a man on a bicycle to a cute dog, are depicted going about their day. Ink and watercolor heightened with white on illustration board. Signed ''Bemelmans'' at lower right. Painting measures 21.25'' x 21.5''. Matted to an overall size of 24'' x 24''. Near fine condition. A rare find for fans of the children's classic.
