Official straight pen used by 27th U.S. President William Howard Taft on 11 February 1911 to sign the bill authorizing the 1915 Pan-Pacific International Exhibition. The PPIE was held in San Francisco and served as both a celebration of the completion of the Panama Canal and a way to display a return to form following the 1906 earthquake. Metal inkless pen is engraved at rear barrel, ''OFFICIAL PEN USED BY PRESIDENT TAFT IN SIGNING P.P.I.E. BILL''. Top of barrel is also engraved and partially hidden by feed, ''OFFICIAL SOUVENIR / P.P.I.E. 1915''. Measures 8.5''. Some tarnishing and minor cracks to metal, overall very good condition. Very unique one of a kind piece.
