Six 1750's leather bound volumes of work by Alexander Pope, including his celebrated translations of Homer's "Odyssey" and "Iliad." The set includes: Volumes I, III and IV of "The Iliad," Volumes I and III of "The Odyssey" and Volume VI of "The Works of Alexander Pope." The initial release of Pope's Homer translations saw one volume appearing every year over the course of six years with Pope receiving a groundbreaking two hundred guineas a volume. Editions in original binding each measure 4" x 6.75". Very good condition.
