As President, Thomas Jefferson signs his name in black ink as ''Th: Jefferson'' to a 4-language ship's passport for the ''Roeback'' on 18 July 1804. Jefferson's succeeding President, James Madison, also signs his name in full at right in black ink while serving as Secretary of State. Document retains its paper covered seals and is printed in 4 languages: French, Spanish, English and Dutch, respectively. Document measures 20.5'' x 16.5'', framed to 29'' x 36.5''. Weighs 12.6 lbs. Folds and minor wear to edges including small tears, overall very good condition.
