Chester Arthur autograph letter signed, dated 21 September without a year, though likely during the 1870's when Arthur served as Collector of the Port of New York. Addressed to Mrs. Meredith, Arthur writes from New York on his personal stationery regarding Colonel Meredith, the recipient's husband. Signed at the conclusion in black ink: ''Very faithfully yours / C.A. Arthur''. First page includes Arthur's embossed initials at top. Letter runs 3pp. on card-style paper and measures 5'' x 8''. 1'' tear to first and second page, overall very good condition.
