Billy Evans signed copy of his first book ''Umpiring From the Inside'', self-published by Evans in 1947. Autograph on front free endpaper reads '''Billy' Evans''. Billy Evans worked as an umpire from 1906-1927 and became the youngest umpire in major league history at 22 and also the youngest umpire to officiate in the World Series at 25; he was inducted into the Hall of Fame posthumously in 1973. 100 pages, hardcover measures 5.75'' x 8.25''. Dustjacket is in good condition with some tears. Signature page has an address stamp of previous owner, which also appears at end of book. Binding is tight and pages are in near fine condition. Overall very good condition.
