Complete first draft script for the 44th Academy Awards in 1972 and a ticket to the event, given to John De Cuir, the art director known for his gorgeous set designs. Dated ''3/28/1972'', less than 2 weeks before the broadcast, script includes entire teleplay, rundowns and call sheets, with the presenters and special award recipients listed. Bound in a custom three-ring binder with red cover and gold lettering, script reads: ''NBC / 44th Annual Oscar Awards / Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences / April 10, 1972'' with John De Cuir's name at bottom right. Measures 10'' x 11.5''. Runs 151 pages plus extra pages which detail staff contacts and rehearsal schedule. Lot also includes folded invitation to award show and Governors Ball, ticket, and paragraph outlining release statement. Invitation shows the Oscar statue in gilt with ''1972'' in bold letters. Invitation measures 6.5'' x 9'' when open, ticket measures 5.5'' x 4'' and release statement measures 5.5'' x 3''. Binder has slight wear and smudges, overall in very good condition. Other documents are near fine.
