Nobel prize-winning author John Steinbeck autograph letter signed on 27 April 1963. Steinbeck playfully writes on his personal stationery to Lew Rosen of Ringling Brothers Circus, ''For reasons which will be apparent to you, it might be just as well if this correspondence did not fall into alien or unfriendly hands. I have your letter with its enclosure of tail hair (you see, we're in trouble already) and I am deeply grateful to you to Mr. North and to the elephant. My presumptive daughter in law will be equally grateful. Such are the hazards of marriage in these days that a little magic is no bad ingredient. Thank you again yours / John Steinbeck''. Accompanied by holograph envelope addressed to Rosen, sent from New York City. Letter measures 8.5'' x 11'', envelope 9.5'' x 4.25''. Folds and dampstaining to right edge. Very good condition overall.
