President Dwight Eisenhower typed letter uniquely signed ''Ike Eisenhower'' on his personal stationery, dated 22 February 1951. Addressed to the Secretary of the Army Frank Pace, letter reads in full, ''Dear Frank: I sent a wire today to Brigadier General Harris Jones at West Point regarding a very worthy cadet candidate named Roy Thorsen. He appears to be fine officer material and I hope he can be taken care of out of appointments available to the Superintendent, U.S. Military Academy. I'm not sure that your office intervenes in such affairs but on the chance that it does, I wanted to tell you, first hand, that I've heard much that is good of this young enlisted man. His greatest booster is Brigadier General S.D. Grubbs, commanding Ramey Field. We are up to our necks in work. With warm personal regard. Sincerely, [signed] Ike Eisenhower''. Measures 7.25'' x 10.25''. Hole punches, creasing and docketing stamps. Very good condition.
