Brooklyn Bridge opening ceremony invitation. Official invitation to the 24 May 1883 celebration is addressed to Mr. & Mrs. John Couse. Its focal point is an etching of the suspension bridge stretching across the East River to connect Manhattan and Brooklyn. Its original name, the ''New York and Brooklyn Bridge'' is printed in the largest font. Accompanied by a 4'' x 2.5'' card printed, ''Compliments of A. Brinkerhoff, Comptroller'' and the mailing envelope. Single-page invitation by Tiffany & Co. measures 9'' x 6.5''. The year has been handwritten under the date. Ink notations to envelope. Near fine overall.
