Eugene O'Neill ''The Hairy Ape'' limited edition signed. Published by Horace Liveright: New York: 1929, this is number 731 of 775 numbered copies of the play, of which 750 were for sale. Its limitation page is signed, ''Eugene O'Neill'' in black ink. This play is known as O'Neill's commentary on social class, about a manual laborer who is terrorized by his feelings of isolation. It was first produced in 1922 to widespread acclaim and earned a run on Broadway. Runs 114pp. and comes bound in blue and orange paper boards with a black cloth spine featuring gilt lettering. Deckled edges. Measures 8'' x 10.5''. Fine. Housed in its original black paper slipcase, that in fair condition.
