Handwritten notes by then Vice President Richard Nixon, showing insight into his thinking on foreign policy and national security. Note was given by Nixon to his biographer Earl Mazo, who wrote, ''Richard Nixon: A Political and Personal Portrait'' in 1959. On the top of the page Nixon writes, ''National Security'', following with ''Major Problems - Keep the peace with major threat - communism - but our aim must be Information...Voice of America''. He then writes ''Peace, National Independence, Undivided Freedom''. Under ''Help the Peace'', he writes ''Communism - greatest danger'' and lists 5 points, including ''no fear of military'', ''emphasize non military aspects'' and ''Economic, Political, diplomatic & ideological warfare''. Under the heading ''What is greatest need?'', he writes in part, ''Mili, Allies, Latin America / But greatest danger is in non-military - ideological...Money alone not the answer...point out it's evils but we don't stand for things as they are...'' He closes with ''Most important - We must be for change. The people don't want to be on our side to fight Communism - it is to their interests too''. Single page measuring 8'' x 12.5'' is handwritten in dark pencil on yellow legal paper. Very good condition.
