Dip pen used by President Lyndon Johnson on 16 October 1964, which amended and extended the National Defense Education Act of 1958. Initially signed into law by Dwight Eisenhower on 2 September 1958, the act was intended to boost the sophistication of the United States' technological capabilities, and allocated funds in order to carry out that goal. President Johnson extended the act six years later, using this pen to do so. Metal-tipped pen with black gripper and clear plastic pen holder contains ''The President - The White House'' printed in white to the pen's clear shaft, and is housed in a cardboard box which contains the slip of paper detailing its provenance. Pen measures 6.25'' long, housed in a box measuring 7'' x 0.5'' x 0.5''. Near fine.
