W.C. Fields signed contract for his film ''The Big Broadcast of 1938'', as well as a script and cost statement. This was Fields' final film made for Paramount Pictures, and the last shot in the ''Big Broadcast'' style, a compilation of comedy skits. The film was notable for being the feature film debut of Bob Hope, and features a performance of the song ''Thanks for the Memory'', which went on to be Hope's signature song. Fields signs an agreement for the purchasing of the rights of five comedy sequences he developed for the film. The notarized contract, dated 26 August 1937, is typed on carbon paper, stapled inside a thicker paper cover, and runs 9pp. total. Fields signs the seventh page. Also included is a 39pp. original script for the sequences Fields wrote, dated 18 August 1937, and a detailed cost statement for the film, dated 28 March 1938. Contract and script each measure 9'' x 11.5'', with the 5pp. cost statement measuring 8'' x 11''. Slight rust stains along with minor toning. Very good.
