Albert Schweitzer signed book, ''The Africa of Albert Schweitzer'' by Charles Joy Melvin Arnold. A & C Black: London: 1949. The medical missionary and Nobel Peace Prize winner's autograph dedication in French to the fly-leaf is signed ''Albert Schweitzer'' in black ink and dated 1965. Book runs 159pp., bound in beige cloth boards with green print. Generously photo-illustrated, it provides a glimpse into the world of medicine in the French Equatorial Africa of the 1940's. Measures 6.25'' x 9.25''. An inscription in an unknown hand notes the Gabon location underneath Schweitzer's inscription. Sunning to boards and tape repair to spine base, with cracking to endpaper at rear hinge, else very good.
