Ty Cobb autograph letter signed with content on the 1960 Hall of Fame induction ceremonies at Cooperstown, which was ultimately cancelled as there was no player to induct that year; this was the last of only three times that no player was inducted. Dated 18 June 1960, Cobb writes to his future personal assistant Marie Quinn: "…If I go to Cooperstown for June 27, I feel I should not per my pain…if they [his doctors] consent, then I will make trip to Cooperstown, for I have received letters from Hall of Fame people insisting, for to date only three Hall of Famers have stated they would go - this year will be a bust for they have no player to induct due to a phoney rule that I have been crusading in my way to have amended they did not so no elected player Etc. don't want them to feel if I do not go they might think I am piqued Etc. which decidedly would not be the case, I have fully explained to them my physical condition, so I might not go, up to doctors in Atlanta if I do go…Ty". Written on front sides of eight sheets of Cobb's personal stationery measuring 6" x 7". Also with original mailing envelope. Overall in very good to near fine condition.
