Ulysses S. Grant dinner invitation addressed to New Hampshire Senator General Gilman Marston. Printed invitation in elegant script reads: ''Lieutenant General & Mrs. Grant, At Home, Monday Evenings Jany. 29th & Feby, 5th & 12th / Dancing''. The invitation is mis-dated however, because in no year do all three dates of 29 January, 5 and 12 February fall on a Monday. Lot includes original envelope addressed to ''Mr. Gilman Marston'' with a pencil notation beneath address reading ''Lieut Gen & Mrs Grant''. Invitation measures 4.75'' x 3''. Minor dampstaining on left margin and also on verso of envelope, else near fine condition.
