Ernest Hemingway signed photo from the fishing expedition planned in honor of his book, ''The Old Man and the Sea''. Photo from the ''Old Man and the Sea Expedition'', held in Cabo Blanco in May 1956, depicts Hemingway posing with Elicio Arguelles and his catch: a gigantic marlin. Arguelles was a Cuban sportsman and friend who accompanied the author on many fishing expeditions. Full-length black-and-white photo is inscribed in black ink along left side, ''To L. C. De Clairmont / from his and / Wheerler's friend / Ernest Hemingway / This fish caught / by Elicio Arguelles / Old Man and the Sea / Expedition / Cabo Blanco / May 1956''. Cabo Blanco was known as ''Marlin Boulevard'' for the plentiful bounty of Marlin in its waters, located just of the northern coast of Peru. Hemingway spent April and May of 1956 with a film crew from Warner Brothers at Marlin Boulevard. Glossy photo measures 6.75'' x 9.25'' with some creasing and silvering, else near fine.
