Theodore Roosevelt signed program for the presentation of Gutzon Borgium's ''Seated Lincoln'' bronze statue. Roosevelt presented the monument to the City of Newark on 30 May 1911. Front cover of program reads, ''Ceremony of the Unveiling of the Lincoln Monument / Van Horn Bequest / Newark, New Jersey / May 30th 1911''. Signed ''Theodore Roosevelt'' in black ink to bottom of cover. A photo of the statue is featured in the program and signed in facsimile by the famed Mount Rushmore sculptor, ''Sincerely yours / Gutzon Borglum''. Program includes a printing of Walt Whitman's ''O Captain! My Captain!'' opposite the ''Order of Ceremonies'' which began with the playing of the ''Star Spangled Banner'' and ending with ''America''. Also listed on the program is the ''Acceptance of the Statue, and Its Presentation to the Mayor and Common / Council of the City of Newark for Perpetual Care. / Hon. Theodore Roosevelt / Ex-President of the United States''. Runs 8pp. with an insert that is tied together with ribbon to the cover boards to an overall size of 6.25'' x 9''. Some toning and foxing and minor flaw to corner of cover, else near fine. Includes original postmarked envelope addressed to Miss Westerberg in Roselle, New Jersey.
