Elston Howard autograph letter signed on New York Yankees letterhead. Howard became the first African American to play for the Yankees, later winning six World Series along with having his jersey number retired. This undated letter to a fan reads in part: ''...I have sent you a ball once before and sent you back the check. I have been sick since the playoffs...You can write the Yankees about the necktie and they will sent [sic] it out...I am sick and I am sorry...Elston Howard''. 1pp. measures 8.5'' x 11''.
