Autograph letter signed by a Dachau prisoner dated 18 August 1940. The sender's name appears as "Stanislaus". His date of birth is listed as 3 January 1898 along with "Prisoner No.: 12478." Stanislaus writes in German, "…I have received your dear letter and was very happy about it…" Rules printed on the Dachau stationery restrict frequency of contact, adding: "…Everything…is subject to seizure…Release requests…are useless…" Verso bears a censor stamp. 3pp. measure 5.75" x 8.25". Toning, separation and light staining. Very good.
