Margaret Mitchell typed letter signed. Letter on her personal stationery is dated 27 August 1937 and reads in part, ''Dear Mr. Beamish: Thank you for sending me your column from the Post-Standard. As you guessed it would, it certainly gave me a laugh. I know that you wrote this article about casting ''Gone With The Wind'' as an amusing article. But I do not believe you know how true it is. I have heard hotter arguments about who shall play Scarlett than I ever heard about the Supreme Court and some of the most remarkable people are advanced as candidates. During these arguments I sit timid and silent because I seem to be the only person in the United States without a violent opinion on this matter. I have nothing to do with the production of the film in any way and I do not intend to go to Hollywood, and I am content to let the movie people make their own decisions...[signed] Margaret Mitchell Marsh''. Single-page letter is matted and framed with a photo of the renowned author. Near fine.
