New York Stock Exchange opening ceremonies invitation and program for its new building in 1903. The building, located at 18 Broad Street and now a National Historic Landmark, was built to accommodate the New York Stock Exchange's sizable growth at the turn of the century. The NYSE itself was created in 1792 and by 1865 had its own building at 10-12 Broad Street. The Exchange's rapid expansion warranted a larger space and by 1901, was slated to reside at 18 Broad Street. Invitation to the grand opening on 22 April 1903 features an etching of architect George B. Post's neoclassic design and is hand-addressed to E.F. Patchen of the NYSE. Printed on heavy cardstock, the single-page invitation measures 9'' x 7''. Accompanied by a 7pp. program listing the ceremony's roster of speakers and board of trustees' members. Program features gilt lettering and design on its cover, bound with gold thread. Measures 6'' x 8''. Lot also includes a burgundy leather business card holder printed in gilt with the addressee's name: ''E.F. Patchen / N.Y. Stock Exchange''. Measures 4.5'' x 3''. Invitation and program are in near fine condition. Business card holder is very good save for separation to sides of interior pocket and edge wear. A rare set from the boom of the NYSE.
