Dwight D. Eisenhower autograph letter signed from Europe during WWII. He writes to his wife, Mamie, in San Antonio, TX. Undated, though 1943, letter reads in part: ''My Darling, Letters from you these days are few and far between. But I keep expecting one every day, and once in a great while I am not disappointed. I must say though that at times I darn near decide to write only when I receive a letter. However, I like to write to you...Yesterday and today have been hard ones on me. Argument - conference - talk & talk. I get so I have no thought except crawling off in a corner & keeping still in every language known to man. The only trouble is, I'm not a linguist. The battle goes well, at least apparently. Casualty lists, while sizeable, are not excessively so...I wrote to [son] John the day before yesterday. He seems fine, according to his latest letter to me. I wish I could have him for an ADC, but I wouldn't if I could. He's certainly a grand boy - God knows we are fortunate. He, like you, has taken this flurry of personal publicity in his stride and is not getting off-balance as a result. I'm proud of you both...Loads of love to you my sweet - don't forget me. Always your, Ike.'' Letter runs 2pp. and measures 8'' x 10.5''. Creasing, else near fine.
