Marcus Garvey typed letter signed as President and General of the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA). Letter on UNIA stationery is dated 31 March 1938. Addressed to Thomas Harvey of Philadelphia, PA, letter reads in part, ''...We are hoping as time rolls by you will find greater activities before you in organizing new branches in the state of New York. The contact with individuals is very important and I do hope that you will find time to devote to this interest. Organising fetes and concerts and other things among individuals must not be overlooked...it would be good if you could devote some time to interesting other folks...[signed] Marcus Garvey''. Single-page letter measures 8.5'' x 11.5''. Toning, creasing and small tears to delicate edges, else near fine.
