John Jay autograph letter signed as Secretary of State. Letter, written circa the mid 1780's. Letter reads in part: ''Mr. N Low applied to me this morning for a lea - He was not provided with such evidence as the case required... Be so good as to show him the act of Congress & to point out the facts that should be provided...'' Single-page letter measures 7'' x 4''. Matted to an overall size of 18'' x 12.75''. Ink stains throughout, else near fine.
