Benjamin Harrison autograph letter signed "B Harrison" as President, written upon a card with an engraving of the White House. Harrison's letter, though undated, is likely from 1889 considering its content. Marked "Private", Harrison writes to his Interior Secretary, John Willock Noble. Harrison advises Noble that, "…A gentleman who is well endorsed tells me that on the files of your Dept there are serious charges against [Arizona Territorial Governor Lewis] Wolfley in connection with Govt Surveys in Arizona - Have the matter investigated & report to me the result. Yrs B Harrison". Wolfley took office in April of 1889 but resigned sixteen months later. 2pp. letter is written in pencil on a single 4.75" x 3.5" card. Minor creasing, else near fine.
