'Mark Twain's Autobiography'' with a foreword by Twain's biographer, Albert Paine. First edition in two volumes. New York: Harper & Brothers: 1924. Octavo books run approximately 365pp. In order to ''speak freely'' of the ''privacies of his life,'' it was Twain's original wish that his autobiography not ''...be published until he had been dead at least a hundred years.'' Instead it was published a mere 14 years after his death. Blue cloth boards are adorned with gilt. Book is slightly edgeworn and toned, and tears are present on two pages in the second volume. Very good condition.
