Clark Gable autograph letter signed, written upon the fly-leaf of ''Villa D'Este'', published by Ariel: Milan: 1950. Letter to his secretary Jean Garceau is dated 14 October 1952 and reads in full, ''Dear Jean & Russ - This is where I've been living for the past three weeks resting, playing golf, motoring back & forth into Switzerland, and to put it mildly, enjoying myself. Thought you might like to read this through in your idle moments, and if & when you make your trip abroad this is a must - not too expensive either. Am leaving tomorrow for Rome by car, & will fly from there in the 'Comet' for Africa, Oct. 30. Love to you both / Pa.'' Accompanied by the Gable biography in which this letter is photographed and captioned. Also included is a matte 8'' x 10'' photo of Gable with Garceau at a typewriter. Single-page letter in blue ink usurps an entire 7.75'' x 11.25'' leaf. Near fine. From the estate of Jean Garceau.
