Longtime FBI director, J. Edgar Hoover signed photo dated 22 November 1939. Hoover inscribes on the border beneath his image, "To Vivian Eloise Hands / With cordial regards / 11/22/39 J. Edgar Hoover". In the year of signing, Hoover's FBI became preeminent in the field of domestic intelligence, expanding and combining fingerprint files in the Identification Division. Matte photo and border measures 9.25" x 11.25". Some silvering to darker portions of the image and uniform toning to the border. Overall in very good condition.
