Pope Pius IX 1858 document signed. Written in Italian, 2pp. translates in part, ''...cannot be sustained for years of crop failure, having a large family he has had to borrow to provide for his wife and four small children...The captain asked him for a boat with wheels...and he accepted the deal hoping with the boat sale to pay off this debts...Monsignor Lolli has not paid...'' 8.75'' x 13'' card style document has light soiling, small area of discoloration and portion of first page cut out on the upper right side, not affecting content. Very good.
