Rare 1891 White House invitation from President Benjamin Harrison on embossed Executive Mansion letterhead. Addressed to Illinois Congressman Lewis Payson and his wife, the document invites the couple to three events: to meet the Diplomatic Corps on 13 January 1891, to a reception for the Congress and the Judiciary on 23 January 1891, and to meet the Officers of the armed forces on 3 February 1891. Measures 6" x 4.5" and comes with original envelope. Corner has edge wear and back flap has been cut off, else fine condition.
